Frequently asked questions

Which tags does this tool check?

It reads the page title, meta description, canonical link, robots directive, viewport and author, plus all Open Graph (og:) and Twitter Card tags used for social previews.

What are Open Graph tags for?

Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url) tell Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and others how to render a shared link as a rich preview card. Without them, shares fall back to bare text.

Why does my social preview look wrong?

Common causes are a missing og:image, an image that is too small (aim for 1200×630), a stale cache on the sharing platform, or og:url pointing to the wrong canonical address.

Do you download the og:image?

No. For your privacy we do not fetch the preview image — we only show its URL and whether it is present. That keeps your IP from being exposed to the target site's image host.

What is a canonical tag?

A canonical link tells search engines which URL is the primary version of a page, consolidating ranking signals and preventing duplicate-content problems when the same content is reachable at several URLs.
