Discount Calculator
Work out the sale price and how much you save from a percentage off.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the original price by the percent off divided by 100 to get the amount saved, then subtract that from the original price to get the sale price.
What does the discount calculator show?
It shows both the dollar amount you save and the final price you pay after the percentage discount is applied.
How much is 20 percent off?
Twenty percent off means you pay 80 percent of the price, so a 50 dollar item costs 40 dollars and you save 10 dollars.
How do I work out the final sale price?
The final price is the original price minus the discount amount, which the calculator computes instantly once you enter the price and percent off.
Can I use this for any percentage?
Yes. You can enter any discount percentage, from a small five percent markdown to a large clearance discount, and get the exact savings.
How do I find the percent off from two prices?
Divide the amount saved by the original price and multiply by 100, for example saving 15 dollars on a 60 dollar item is a 25 percent discount.
Does the tool account for sales tax?
No. It calculates the discount on the listed price only, so any sales tax would be added afterward at checkout.
