Frequently asked questions
How do I resize an image with this tool?
Upload an image, enter the target width and height, and the tool redraws it at the new dimensions using the browser canvas. You then download the resized result.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The resizing is done entirely in your browser with the canvas, so the image is never uploaded to a server. It stays on your device.
What does the aspect-ratio lock do?
With aspect-ratio lock on, changing one dimension automatically adjusts the other to keep the original proportions, so the image does not look stretched. Turn it off to set width and height independently.
Why does my image look stretched after resizing?
Stretching happens when the new width and height do not match the original proportions, which occurs if aspect-ratio lock is off. Enabling the lock keeps the shape correct.
Does resizing smaller then larger restore quality?
No. Shrinking an image discards detail, so enlarging it again cannot recover what was lost and may look soft. Keep the original if you might need a larger version later.
What formats can I resize?
It works with common web image formats loaded into the browser, and you download the resized image afterwards. The tool focuses on changing dimensions rather than converting formats.
Will enlarging an image improve its sharpness?
No. Enlarging cannot add detail that is not in the source, so scaling a small image up tends to make it blurry. Resizing works best when reducing dimensions or keeping them close to the original.
